Application with a Spray System and brush
Vitapanel solutions are designed for easy application to solar panels. Applications can be done with equipment ranging from handheld sprayers for smaller areas to professional pump-driven systems suited for large-scale installations. The key to an effective application is using an adjustable spray system that ensures uniform coverage while being able to reach all parts of the solar array. The result depends on weather conditions, the operator's technique, and the equipment used. The spray system should include a diaphragm pump with a minimum pumping capacity of 40 l/min, sufficient hose length, and an adjustable spray nozzle for even distribution across the panels.
Uniform distribution
When applied correctly, Vitapanel Clean ECO forms a consistent, even layer on the solar panel surface. Achieving this requires careful control of the walking speed (if using handheld equipment), the dilution ratio of the cleaning solution, and the spray nozzle setting. Inconsistent application can lead to uneven cleaning coverage, with areas that are over- or under-treated. Operators with limited experience may want to perform a second application pass to ensure all surfaces are evenly covered.
Dilution & Capacity
- Dilution required may vary based on the severity of soiling and type of dirt. When using a rotating brush driven by water with a dosing pump, dilution can be substantial higher based upon personal preference and experience.
- We advise to use minimum 125-150 ml (0.033-0.039 US gal) of diluted liquid per m² (10.7 ft²) panel. With 10 liter (2.64 US gal) on a 1:20 dilution you can clean approximately 1400-1700 m² (15,069 ft² – 18,299 ft²) of panels.
- When using more concentrated (e.g. 1:10) with for example drones, around 100 ml of spraying liquid per m² panel could be sufficient. In this set-up 1 can will cover around 1100 m² of panels.
Weather conditions affect performance
- For optimal results and to maximize cleaning efficiency, apply Vitapanel Clean ECO to dry, cool solar panels.
- It is essential to apply during dry weather, with relative humidity below 90%, and a minimum temperature of 5°C.
- Avoid application during or shortly before rain (30 minutes), as rain can interfere with the cleaning process
- Excessive wind (above 7 km/h) can cause uneven coverage and overspray.
- Proper weather conditions ensure a uniform application, faster drying, and minimal product waste.

- Apply evenly, on dry solar panels and not during peak hours of solar intake
- Let the cleaner soak for 30 min
- Use soft brush to remove stubborn dirt
- Rinse with (demineralized) water
- Prepare the cleaning solution: Follow the same dilution and preparation steps.
- Verify drainage and surroundings:
- Ensure the site is suitable for flow-through of rinsing water and avoid discharge into stagnant waters. Install drainage below water surfaces where required and allowed.
- Application:
- Apply the solution evenly on dry solar panels, ensuring all areas are covered.
- Let the solution sit for at least 15 minutes before rinsing with water or waiting for rain.
- Note: Missed sections will not be cleaned.
- Environmental considerations:
- Avoid discharging into natural water sources. Follow state regulations for waste disposal.
- If rinsing water enters reservoirs, check water usability (including pH levels).

- Use appropriate fall protection when working on or near solar installations.
- Wear protective gloves and a mask to avoid inhalation of mist or vapors.

Yes, but heavily soiled panels often require brushing in order to clean them 100%.
Although Vitapanel Clean ECO is not specifically designed for removing of lichen, it helps loosen organic growth, buth mechanical romval may be required.
Yes. Vitapanel effectively breaks down organic residues. “Dried in” bird droppings might be more difficult to remove if not brushed, ensure enough Vitapanel is sprayed onto these spots.
